Quick Overview

Those who believe in the traditional method of photography or for all those aficionados who think that digital photography is not as competent, Leica M6 is a perfect treat for them. This rangefinder camera belongs to the M series launched by Leica in 1953, with the first model being the Leica M3. The Leica M6 range was launched in 1984. Today, they are available in two models - M6.72 TTL and the M6.85 TTL. The older models are referred to as "M6 Classic". An used M6 Classic is often sold in half the price of a new M7. The key difference between newer M6v TTL models and M6 Classic is the TTL flash capability in the newer models. The Leica M6 rangefinder operates by triangulation and is incorporated with 2 silver oxide button cells powering it. Alternatively, it can run on a single lithium battery too. This 35mm rangefinder has manually operated focus and exposure. The shutter speed of the camera ranges from 1second to 1/1000th second. The camera also offers dual viewfinder options: 0.72x and 0.85x and their relative frame lines enable the photographers to play with images. The film speed varies from 6-6400 ISO. M6 was launched in several special editions with limited number of units produced under the brand label. For example, Leica M6 Colombo ’92 had produced 200 cameras under the label; whereas Leica M6 William Klein had produced only one unit.
